"This is my opportunity to give back; to help others the same way they helped us," said Eddie Portis, studio principal with Little, the Charlotte-based architecture firm leading the design effort. Portis' family was taken in by the Johnson City Ronald McDonald House during his son's recovery from a 2003 skiing accident. "We are proud to support this effort and bring this much-needed neighbor to Charlotte."
"Our Charlotte community will be the architect and builder of this new Ronald McDonald House," said Robby Lowe, vice president of business development with J. F. Schultze Construction. "Our company, along with Little, have started the ball rolling but there are many ways companies and individuals can support and help build this home."
