Given our close relationship with both Levine Children’s Hospital and Hemby Children’s Hospital, the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte helps eliminate barriers that may prevent families of sick children from receiving the support and love they need. The House offers parents of a sick child receiving medical treatment at these two facilities a more comfortable and affordable housing option.

By working as a team – the House, area hospitals and families – everyone benefits from an organized and cooperative approach to care.

The Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte represents just one facet of a whole-family care approach in Charlotte, aimed at caring for seriously ill or injured children. This approach, known as “Family Centered Care” is a highly researched, strategic approach to caring for sick or injured children that more fully engages parents, siblings and family members in a child’s healing process. By working with the two children’s hospitals, a family staying at the House can learn about the illness or injury, work with medical care providers to understand treatments and schedules, and much more.

Through our partnership with both Levine and Hemby, the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte provides and addresses the most basic needs of a family – shelter, food and support – so that they can focus all their energy on their child. Allowing whole family units to stay in the House enables parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts/uncles and more to be a part of the healing process. Our House, as part of the “Family Centered Care” system will help children heal faster, stay healthy longer and take comfort in the closeness of loved ones.
